COVID-19 Message from TreeUtah

Written by TreeUtah

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has really changed the world and the way we're looking at community plantings this year. With our commitment to the community’s health and wellness in mind, TreeUtah is putting measures in place to ensure the safety of everyone who plants trees with us during this time and into the foreseeable future. Spring and Fall are typically our biggest planting months of the year for large park trees, and one way or another, we are working diligently to get as many trees planted as possible by staff and our municipal partners.

Until we are through this unprecedented time, we will facilitate tree planting in ways that are no-touch, with full social distancing precautions in place. Currently, we aren't holding any public events, but even as things loosen a bit, we will endeavor to keep our community safe.

With our Memorial Tree Program in Sugarhouse Park, you can honor a loved one with a tree. TreeUtah staff can plant in your honor, or your small household could come to the park to plant with us at a distance.  Click here for more information on our Memorial Tree program.

We are testing ways to invite families to plant trees in parks, one household at a time. Watch our newsletter, event pages or social media pages for details.

We miss all of our amazing volunteers that come to plantings! In case we don't get to see you for a while, we are working on video offerings about how to plant trees in your own yard with your family this spring. Watch for videos and educational materials to be added to our website and social media pages as we work on this initiative. As always, if you have questions about planting trees, you can reach me at  or our Planting Coordinator, Ian Peisner, at

Our great Volunteer Coordinator, Jack Jacob, has been working on instructing our Team Leader training online. If you have ever been interested in becoming a super volunteer for TreeUtah events, it will be launching soon. You can sign up for the next training here. If you have questions, feel free to email .

We will keep you posted once we have events that we can post. Thank you so much for your continuing patience and support! Wishing all of you health and safety during this complex time.
